Alohaei: a Polynesian pole house This was a first: a Polynesian pole house!

This lot, entered into a Bear Mountain Creations contest, simply requested that we build a Polynesian style home.  This home is based on an actual plan I found online (the plan is in the slide show below).

My back story is that this is the Chief’s house.  He has moved back from the modern world to take over after his father’s passing, and although the house follows many of the traditional features of a “Chief’s house”, the decor is decidedly more modern.  Lots of natural materials, and a little French colonial influence, make this a beautiful, cozy home.  It’s also very large: game limitations mean walls that should be at a 30 or 60 degree angle had to be placed at 45, which increased the footprint.

Still, I made it work!
